Juice for Firefox Now Public
Nov 6, 2008 Firefox Leave a comment
From Techcrunch:
Juice, a Firefox browser sidebar developed by Linkool International, has launched to the public. The powerful plugin automatically culls information from around the web whenever you search for or highlight a term, making it a handy reference tool that I could quickly get used to. It also doubles as a media storage tool, allowing you to simply drag and drop videos and image files into the sidebar to save them for later.
Juice pulls from sources including Wikipedia, Google News, YouTube, and our own CrunchBase (through its API) to offer users a quick at-a-glance summary of many popular topics. The sidebar is very polished, allowing for in-line video playback and expandable text summaries, and the media storage function is intuitive.
At this point it seems that the plugin’s database is still fairly small, as many searches (even for such common terms as “Superman”) result in a notice that “Juice has learned a new keyword”. Within a few minutes these new terms are added to the database automatically, and the issue will probably be gone within a few weeks of the public beta.
Juice’s rocking webcast from Linkool Labs on Vimeo.Juice is the first application from Beijing-based Linkool Labs to integrate the company’s “intelligent discovery engine” which uses “natural language processing” and “a dictionary management system” to produce semantic results. It’s impossible to tell just how much processing is going on behind the scenes, but search results are generally accurate, though it’s possible to find some words that will “trick” the system.
There are a number of Firefox extensions that offer integrated reference lookup, including CoolPreviews, Briteclick, and others that can be found here.

Magpie: Make Money with Twitter
Nov 4, 2008 twitter Leave a comment
I’m playing around with Magpie, which is supposedly a way to make some money with your Twitter account. All you do is sign up and give them your Twitter account info and Magpie tweets advertisements to your followers based on the keywords you commonly use in your tweets. Oh, you do have the ability to set the ratio of your tweets to theirs.
Fortunately, I have another Twitter account (other than my main Twitter account) so I don’t have to hand over my ‘real’ Twitter credentials…heh heh.
When you get to the page, you can enter the user name of your Twitter account and Magpie will give you an estimate on how much you can make (in Euros). Fortunately, my ‘other’ account is quoted at making over 400 Euros per month, as opposed to my main account (or John Chow’s…heh heh).
I hope this works out. If you have any experiences with Magpie, please share them. I’d like to learn more about how this system works.

Contest: CouponCodesMall Dot Com
Nov 3, 2008 Contests Leave a comment
Looks like there’s another blog contest to pass on to everyone. Of course, I’ll have to admit I’m a little skeptical about this one. It seems that the prizes are just way too awesome. Hey, it’s worth an entry anyway, right?
CouponCodesMall.com is giving away lots of prizes (according to the contest page, over $10,000 worth - which is why I’m skeptical). Of all the prizes, I think I’d like to win the $500 cash (if it in fact exists) so I can finally buy a laptop that is a bit more modern.
Anyway, go check it out. It’s worth a shot.

Save Money on Nikon Binoculars
Nov 1, 2008 Sponsored Posts Leave a comment
It’s rifle season for deer hunting! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go hunting this year (work, money, etc.). Of course, many of the people I know are probably out sitting in their stands right now, just waiting for that big buck to wander past them. Man, I wish I was out there.
For a lot of hunters, money is no object when it comes to quality hunting gear. But do you think someone who was intent on investing in the gear to get that buck (and yes, it is an investment) would like to save a little bit on that gear? I would…
Well, right now you can get a gift card from Nikon when you make a qualified purchase. What is a qualified purchase? How about Nikon Monarch and Trailblazer Binoculars? For the Monarch, they offer a $25 gift card and for the Trailblazer, you can get a $50 gift card. Come on, you know you will probably buy a set of binoculars anyway, so why not get a great set AND get something in addition? And hey, you still have time to get in on this deal. It’s running up until December 31st. For more information, you can check out http://www.nikonhunting.com/atb-binoculars-promotion.html.
*This is a sponsored post. But it’ll save you some money on that next purchase, right?

DNXpert is at it again! Another great contest!
Oct 31, 2008 Uncategorized Leave a comment

For those who may be domain flippers, DNXpert is probably a site you are familiar with. The have some great content, and I especially like two things about them.
First, their expired domain lists are great for snagging recently deceased domain names.
Second, their contests rule! And you know what? They have just started a new contest, giving away a ton of prizes (including cash). Personally, I’d like to win the cash so I can finally get a new laptop to replace my Pentium 133 beast that has a non-working battery and is incapable of making the wifi work.
I bet you’d like to know how to get in on the contest…first off, head over to the DNXpert contest page to read the rules (and the overwhelming list of prizes involved in this thing. Second, you will want to register for the DNXpert forum (which is free) and chat it up with other domain flippers/buyers/sellers (this will also help you in the contest).
C’mon! I know you like winning stuff…
