About a week ago, I finally got sick of the work phone that I have to use when I go on call. It’s clunky, annoying, and it’s hard for people to hear me when I talk on it (it’s also a Samsung Galaxy S5, so feel free to hate my opinion if you like). So I decided that I needed a Bluetooth headset.
I also decided that I wasn’t going to spend almost $100 on one. I’m sure the expensive ones are great, but I can’t justify spending that much on something like that.
So I went down to the local Wal-Mart (you probably just heard that in Larry the Cable Guy’s voice) and checked out some less expensive Bluetooth headsets and settled on the Plantronics M70. Mostly because it was affordable.
Plantronics M70 Bluetooth Headset Review
So basically, it’s a very lightweight piece that clips on to your ear and lets you talk hands-free…which oddly isn’t something I’m terribly used to. It supports two phones and frees up your hands to do other, more important tasks…like typing. Or driving.
The Plantronics M70 has an expected talk time of about 11 hours when it’s fully charged (which can be done with a normal micro USB cord). It’s not some crazy space device…it’s really simple to use. Really simple. There’s an on/off switch, volume up/down, and a button for answering/ending calls.

Good Points
Never before have I felt more like a spaceship pilot while driving. Or some kind of secret agent. It really helped my on-call work, but tonight…I put on the earpiece, grabbed the leather jacket, jumped in the car, and cranked up the radio. But how it makes you feel isn’t really the point of this review.
The M70 works great. It’s simple (but still comes with an easy to understand manual). I really like that it supports two phones at once. And I really enjoy the fact that it’s lightweight and doesn’t look all weird.
The sound quality on this thing is really good as well.
Also, I paid around $30 for it. It’s hard to argue that it isn’t a good deal.
Things I Don’t Like
While the sound quality is good, I do wish that it had just a tiny bit more volume. Sometimes I have difficulty hearing GPS directions over my Uber passengers having a normal conversation. I can’t say 100% that this is the fault of the M70, because it’s probably just my ears being sketchy. But a little bit more volume would be nice.
The other thing I really don’t like is that the part that goes in your ear is a little big and while I don’t have any problems wearing the headset, it tends to get uncomfortable after wearing it for a while. I could do without the discomfort.
The Verdict
All in all, I would have to say that I’m pretty happy with my choice. The Plantroncis M70 Bluetooth headset is a pretty well made device and it does suit my needs, but it could be a little more comfortable and a tiny bit louder. But for about $30, I would say it’s a pretty worthwhile device.
