Reinventing myself – setting goals.
Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?
I've decided that it's about time that I did something about a few situations.
I've picked up a second gig as a part-time karaoke DJ for a while. I love karaoke! And I love getting paid! So the two just naturally fell in place (and having a background in music and radio helped a bit).
I've started buying foods that are lower in fat. As in, yogurt, fruit and light meals. I've been overweight most of my life, and I need to do something about that. Honestly, I don't even mind if I don't lose all of the weight, but I'd love to lose at least 30 lbs. Honestly, I could stand to lose about 100 lbs...I'm a big dude. Heh.
I've been trying to sleep a little better. So far, that's a little harder than it sounds.
I kind of like feeling like this blog and putting this stuff in public gives me a sense of accountability, because if I fail, I fail publicly.
What kind of goals do you set for yourself?

Live From The Garage!
The yard sale (which I failed to mention previously, because I didn't know about it until this morning) is well underway, and in fact beginning to slow down (thanks to most of the good stuff being sold early in the morning). I thought it might be fun to compete with the family, to see if I could make more money during the duration of the yard sale with the internet then they could. So far, they have made close to $200, and I'm at a whopping $1.44. Woohoo!
The nearly-famous couch (from which I do all my web work) is also for sale. I argued against it (because I really like the couch), but being the 'alpha male' of the house isn't nearly what it was fifty years ago. In a way, I'm kind of hoping that it doesn't get sold, but if it does I can always Freecycle my way to a half-decent office chair.
Just a side note for you green-types: EcoQuest International hot topics are available for your browsing pleasure. Or not.
These folding metal chairs are not so cool. But having the garage door open is kind of cool...we can call it free-air blogging. It's a new revolution in information technology...pfft.
I've got a couple things in the works, including at least one review of a new service for making money (I'm going to be testing it for a little bit, so I can give you all a better quality review) and perhaps a tutorial on using dNeero...thanks to a reader's request.
Leaving comments on blogs is a good way to help influence a blogger's subject matter. Keep this in mind.

Becoming a Freelance Writer

Well, I suppose now it is official. I've started doing some freelance writing work. You know, Digital Point can be a very valuable asset when it comes to finding ways to make extra money in your free time. I have to say that using networks like PayPerPost have really been valuable to me, as far as learning how to write better articles is concerned.
It started yesterday, actually. I read a post over at Digital Point by someone looking for people willing to re-write an article. Fortunately, I was in his price range (and the fact that I was fluent in English helped as well) so I got the gig. Apparently, my re-write was good enough quality that he paid me in advance to do some original content work as well. Sweet.
I'm hoping that I can continue to work for this guy, since he likes my work and I am somewhat interested in music blogging (no surprise there...heh). I think I'm going to enjoy freelancing. Hopefully I can ditch the 24-hour on-call gig in exchange for this one day.

Make Money and Live Longer
Just a thought: why is it that we can throw tons of money into studies that do absolutely nothing to truly benefit mankind, when we do virtually nothing about researching ways to make people age slower?
I mean, wouldn't it be cool to be 80, but still feel (and look) like you were 25? I'd be cool with that.
We study rocks from space, global it's-not-really-warming, and the mating habits of animals that are 1) inedible and 2) not worth studying to begin with...why not making people live longer?
I think it's worth looking into.
Oh, as for the money part (as well as more information about longevity research) you should check this out. Over at wrevenue.com, there is an excellent post about this. Also, they have issued a blogging challenge...an easy way to earn $20 bucks, but you had better move fast! They've had about 30 takers, and there are only 99 chances...
Go on...I'll wait...
