Goals for the new year.
Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?
Ok, I know I'm two weeks behind schedule with this, but I'm posting it anyway.
In lieu of making 'resolutions' this year, I have simply set two goals for myself. What's the difference between a goal and a resolution? It's simple, really. Goals were meant to be reached while resolutions, well, do you know ANYONE that keeps theirs up throughout the year?
My goals for 2008, in no particular order are:
- Earn $500.00 online.
- Lose 25 pounds.
That's it. Just two. The reason for that is to keep my hopes up, and not to set myself up for a big let-down.
The first, earning $500.00 should be fairly simple. I'm already off to a decent start with that. I've been paid $10.00 so far, and am still waiting on about $56.00 in payments (which should be spaced out over the next two weeks). Not to mention that I have some film for sale on eBay, and I'm hoping that it actually sells. APS film, anyone?
I've started to take the blogging thing seriously, and have even begun tracking my expenses and payments received.
Oh, and I purchased a domain name last night, so be prepared for a URL change soon.
As for the second goal, losing 25 pounds, that may be more difficult. I've never had any luck losing weight (except with the help of ephedrine-based supplements, the lot of which have been banned, as have all dietary supplements regardless of chemical composition, by my wife). I get lots of exercise at work (too much, really) and I don't really eat that much during the day, but I still can't get the weight to drop. Who knows? Perhaps this will be the year!
That's it. That's all I have for now. Stay tuned for that domain change!

Wish List
It's that time of year again...the part of the year where I wish I were a rich man.
Yabadibidibidibidibidibidibidum...
I was thinking today about setting some goals for the new year (in lieu of 'resolutions', mostly because it's impossible to keep them).
Aside from the losing weight, cutting spending on bills, and the usual stuff, this year I've been trying to focus more on getting the things I want to have.
My job sucks. I'm working on getting a new one. Of course if I get the job I'm trying for, it will mean going back to 24/7 on-call status, working in adverse weather, and lots of mud. The truth is that it's not a bad job at all, except for those little snags. Oilfields can be very interesting.
Landing a job like that is great, but will cut down severely on my free time. My solution to maintaining a blog (or three)? I need a modern laptop.
Oh, I have a laptop now, but it's a Pentium 133 with 64 mb ram. Yep.
How do I get the money for the new machine? Blogging...I'm off to a nice start, and I'm sure I can find a decent (not necessarily new) machine on eBay for a reasonable price.
Another thing I would like to accomplish in the blogging field is to make enough money to buy some new guitar stuff. I sure could use a switchless crybaby pedal!
I really need to sit down and make a plan on how I can reach my goals.
To my readers, I pose a question: how do you set goals and plan to reach them?

Dreaming Big
I have been so overwhelmed lately by my lack of time-management ability. My 'real job' keeps me so busy, sometimes working 14+ hours each day, that I have no time to stop and look around to see what I'm missing. And now that my family and I have our own place to stay, my radio gig (which I do for various reasons - fun, extra money, etc.) paycheck is being used to help pay the bills. No problem, that was the plan from the beginning. Things are beginning to stabilize.
**I'm at the station now...some lady singing on this live church broadcast...waugh...can't really hit those high notes like she thinks she can...
We've been trying to move our things from one house to the new house, squeezing in trips between the two every chance I get. I really need to get it finished today. I doubt that I will.
I keep wishing that I had a way to find an easier job (not so physically straining) that paid just as good or better. I need to get my life organized.
My goal for the next 2-3 years is this: I would like to get a good pickup truck and start up my own Hot Shot business.
I have no idea how to go about getting the cash for the truck. And then, I would need commercial insurance. A DBA only costs about $50 (I believe), so that won't be too big of a problem.
I also plan to take another shot at college. I would really like to get an Associates degree (for starters) in Accounting. I love computers, but the market is flooded. People always need accountants. I have a good friend who does this for Halliburton, and to say the least, he's doing OK.
I welcome suggestions and ideas of ways to make easy cash in very little time (i.e. available time). It doesn't have to be much, just enough to put some back. Also ideas on reducing bills, time management, etc.
Please help!
