Should I Join Twitter?

I have been seeing a ton of bloggers making the mad dash to join twitter lately. Why? Does it really help bring traffic to your blog? What’s the benefit of actually joining a community of ‘micro-bloggers’, other than to know what everyone is doing/thinking right, uh, now.
I’m thinking about checking it out, just to see if it is as good as they say it is. I welcome any arguments for or against it, as always.
I need to also work on a new post detailing my PROVEN ways to make cash (not to make you rich, but to put something in your pocket in a very short amount of time).
