Reinventing myself – setting goals.

Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?

I've decided that it's about time that I did something about a few situations.

I've picked up a second gig as a part-time karaoke DJ for a while. I love karaoke! And I love getting paid! So the two just naturally fell in place (and having a background in music and radio helped a bit).

I've started buying foods that are lower in fat. As in, yogurt, fruit and light meals. I've been overweight most of my life, and I need to do something about that. Honestly, I don't even mind if I don't lose all of the weight, but I'd love to lose at least 30 lbs. Honestly, I could stand to lose about 100 lbs...I'm a big dude. Heh.

I've been trying to sleep a little better. So far, that's a little harder than it sounds.

I kind of like feeling like this blog and putting this stuff in public gives me a sense of accountability, because if I fail, I fail publicly.

What kind of goals do you set for yourself?

It’s time to do some house cleaning.

I was just playing around with some .me domains. Wow. There are so many great ones that nobody has yet...what, you think I'm gonna tell you?

Anyway, this weekend would normally be one that I'd spend with my kids, but I'm afraid that I need to take a break and stop putting things off and really look around and take stock of myself.

My financial state is dismal. My emotional state is worse. My sanity...let's say it's not there.

The plan is to find a way to make it where I can not just scrape by, but to survive and possibly even thrive. So I will be looking over my past debts, my current income and bills, and my future projections, setting some new goals (both personal and financial), and trying to figure out who I am and where I'm going.

Should be a fun experience.

Cafe Brazil is awesome!

Wow, it's been a busy weekend for me. Hanging out in north Texas, rocking out at the Wildflower Festival in Richardson, feeling they pain of the day after a Cowboy Mouth concert (it's an awesome workout, but geez...the pain is definitely worth it), and eating good food.

There's this place in Dallas called Cafe Brazil. They have awesome crepes (and I'm sure they have lots of other good stuff as well). Lots of different types of coffee, and they're open 24 hours. You really can't beat them.

No, this isn't a paid post. I just wanted to tell you how much that place rules. If you are in the Dallas area, check it out.

Why are all of the real crazy people from California?

I've always wondered what it is about California that causes people to be just plain crazy and/or stupid. Yes, I know, there are exceptions. But based on what I have seen personally, most of them are just total wackos.

Case in point: this is one of the funniest tech calls I have ever heard. Listen. Laugh. Laugh some more. I wonder how Leo Laporte kept his decorum through this call...I would have just laughed...and been far more blunt.

How to Have a Great Week

Here's how to have a great week. This is basically a rundown of what I've been up to the last couple of days (and also why I've been neglecting my blog)...you know, if you were following me on Twitter, you'd know this stuff by now...

1. Get an exceptionally large income tax return.

2. Realize that you have a few things you need to pay for, but really not more than a couple of hundred dollars.

3. Take a friend out for sushi.

4. Take friend out for lunch the next day, then go to the shooting range and unload a couple boxes of ammo.

5. Buy a new guitar and amp.

6. Take three friends out for dinner.

7. Take four friends (not counting the one you meet up with later) out and drive an hour and a half to Houston for a Cowboy Mouth concert. Proceed to rock your ever loving butt off with those friends, when an old high school friend and another awesome friend show up at the show, then proceed to rock out more losing about 20 lbs. via sweat and jumping around and screaming like a 5 year old who found the sugar stash.

8. Take friends to IHOP.

9. Drive back 1.5 hours and crash. Sleep till about 10 AM.

10. Call that place that you applied for a job at. Realize that you did, in fact, get the job, which means a pay raise AND the ability to work in jeans and tee shirts.

Yeah. I'm having a pretty good week so far. :D
