Making a Trade
Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?
I'm excited! Tomorrow evening I will begin my new job. I hope that this one will work out better than the one I just left. I really am excited about getting back into an 18-wheeler and driving back into the oilfield.
Of course, there is a small trade-off involved in starting this new job.
I won't be driving the company truck to work...instead I will be driving about 35 miles one way. That's right - I will be forced to pay for fuel again. Of course, a stable pay rate and a decent amount of overtime is worth it to me.
The fact is, I will make more money at the new job. I will be starting on the night shift, which I don't mind at all...it gets hot during the day!
All things considered, this could be a good thing.

Withdrawl!
No internet!
Stone age laptop!
On the other hand, I managed to find a job as a tow truck driver. I'll be starting this coming friday.
It's so nice to be quitting BWG.

Back to the grind!
Tomorrow I have to go back to work.
I get three-day weekends every now and then, but today I did something different with my 'free time'. I went job hunting!
I don't want to get up at 3:30 and drive for an hour to get to my job in the near-freezing weather. I don't want to be given a random route to haul, and I sure don't want to work for a company that doesn't respect my wishes or the DOT regulations anymore.
So with that, I dropped applications at several trucking-based services in my area. I really hope they turn out well.
Because driving to that wretched place is, uh, wretched.

PayPerPost Added to The Sugarbuzz Project!
As you all know (if you read this site), I like to try to find new ways to make money on the internet. I've considered many options, and I wanted to pass on some information about one of the choices I have made.
PayPerPost is a site that basically sells blog reviews. What does this mean to you? Well, if you are a wannabe uber-blogger like yours truly, it means they pay you to write reviews for their paying customers (thereby generating buzz and traffic - which, as we know, is a good thing).
One feature that strikes me as cool is their "Blogger Dashboard", which gives you a display of your posts that have been approved and rejected, how much you have been/will be paid, and other featured offers you can take them up on.
Oh, and there's a nifty 'give to charity' feature as well, if you are so inclined.
As far as their payment schedule, here is a snippet from their FAQ regarding how their payment schedule works:
Once your post is approved, our system sends it back to the Review team for a second round check 30 days after the original submit date. If the post is still live, and unchanged, it will be approved again and you will receive payment via PayPal.
I look forward to doing business with PayPerPost on a regular basis. Their site is easy to use, and they have a fairly good reputation (according to the things I have read). Check them out!

Let the hunt begin…
Today I applied for a new job. I'm not really actively looking for something new, but more of a passive hunt.
I'm really wanting something that pays better, not that my job doesn't pay well, but I'd like to bring home a steady 800-1000 per week. Having a HAZMAT endorsement isn't doing me a whole lot of good just delivering groceries.
Which reminds me, I have to be at work at 2:30 A.M., so I should really call it a night.
I'm noticing that a lot of companies are wanting people with a diploma from an established truck driving school. That's fine, but I received on-the-job training. It took me about 3 weeks from the time I started learning about truck driving until I had my license (I'm a fast learner). What about folks like me? I hope it doesn't become a catch-22 for new drivers.
Perhaps they will call me and I can move into a company that is more satisfying.
And now...sleep!
