Forgive me for not having pictures, I’ll have to work on that.

Oh, right…the beginning! Well, a few weeks ago I was playing around on Twitter checking out one of the folks who work for Market Leverage, one of the most awesome affiliate markets I’ve worked with. Long story short, there was a contest, and if you were follower number (whatever, can’t remember off hand), you would win a sweet shirt.

Well, I won the contest. This week I was running around in my big rig, so I wasn’t here when the package came. But when I got home…wow.

Not only was the shirt awesome (a very nice polo-type shirt made by Nike), but there was also a cool Market Leverage bag, a coffee cup (I was needing a new one), and a liquid proof roll-up keyboard (which my wife refers to as ‘squishy’)! I was definitely blown away by the bonus swag that came with the shirt! Nothing like free stuff to make your day, right?

Thank you, Market Leverage! On that note, if you haven’t joined ML yet, why not? Not only do they provide excellent service to their affiliates, but they also dish out some pretty freaking awesome swag!

Affiliate Love Project: Marketers Helping Those in Need

I came across a rather interesting site called the Affiliate Love Project, which is a site that is designed to donate a portion of affiliate earnings to people around the world who are in need.

Essentially how the ALP works is that when you join an affiliate program through their site, you will still get paid your commissions, however the site admin will donate their referral earnings to charity. That sounds like a pretty good idea, really.

In order to help get things kicked off, the Affiliate Love Project has set up a contest. The prize? A$250 Amazon gift card! Entrants can get up to 3 entries by following/retweeting a contest tweet, blogging about the site and the contest (much like this), and also joining one of their affiliate programs and earning $10. Not too hard, really.

The deadline to enter is June 18th, with the winner being randomly selected on the next day. Hurry!

Contest Announcement: Contest Extended

OK, I know that I don’t get very many readers total, but wow. The contest was a total failure…almost.

I managed to get three new mailing list subscribers – one of which never verified their email…and it’s very difficult to choose a winner out of two freaking entries.

Here’s what I’m going to do – for the two entrants, I’m going to send them BOTH the 500 EC prize.

I’m also going to extend the contest another month at least. Only this time, the prize will be a special MRR pack, which includes:

-14 PHP Scripts for your site or blog
-An ebook on building your mailing list
-30-Day Bum Marketing Blitz
-Auto Content PRO

All of these come with master resell rights, also, so you can potentially make some cash with this prize.

The next winner will be announced after April 1. This time, get busy spreading the word about this contest!

Seriously, if I don’t get AT LEAST five entries (which are earned by joining our mailing list), I will either have to extend the contest further or cancel it altogether (which I don’t plan on doing). So get busy!

I’ve decided to have a contest. Unfortunately, I don’t have the hookups to give away snazzy prizes like iPods or laptops. Heck, if I had a good laptop, I’d keep it.

Take Your Networking Offline

Before you start screaming about how technically bad that idea sounds, just take a deep breath and let me do some ‘splaining.

I’m not suggesting that you should actually get off the internet. That woud be treason in my book. Yes, you can keep all of your Cat5 connected. I promise this isn’t scary. I’m talking about networking with other people. You know, like getting new potential clients lined up? Yeah, I thought you’d like that.

For a year now, I’ve been trying to make money online, and so far it’s been a good thing. But I seem to have a bit of trouble when it comes to building a mailing list, or generating leads, or even getting people to check out what I’m discussing on this site.

Most of the time, I’ll be talking to some stranger, and we wander on to the subject of the internet, and I’ll tell them about my websites. The trick is to get them to remember the friggin’ URL. So far, I have wished hundreds of times that I had some business cards with my site address and the services I provide on there, so they will have something tangible to help them remember what I was telling them about.

One of these days, I’ll actually get some business cards. In fact, I’d love to do that now, but I’m broke. And lazy.

Using business cards to promote your website is great. For me, I think I’d focus more on having them on hand to give people you are talking with when they ask what you do online, rather than just leave them around town. That technique works better if you pour concrete or sell firewood rather than for freelance writers or eBay listers…although in some smaller towns eBay listers can do quite well by leaving business cards at a local convenience store.

So the first thing you need to do is get a stack of business cards. They aren’t very expensive (unless you are broke, like I am). Or heck, save money and win them in a contest!

AGreedyGenius: eBay Elite Book Launch Contest

What better way to celebrate the publication of a new book that to have a contest? You bet I’m all over this one…

Joshua Anderson, the guy behind AGreedyGenius.com has just released his new book, eBay Elite: Acheive Perfect Success on PayPal and eBay, and he’s holding one heck of a contest to promote this. What’s the prize? Well, you probably know by now that unless it’s something pretty sweet, I won’t really waste my time fooling around with entering. So how does $800 in cash and prizes sound to you?
