Why did you get into blogging?

Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?

I started a blog simply because it just made sense. I have had several different versions of my own site online since about 1996, when I first started spending time on the internet. Over the years, I learned a lot about how to build websites, how not to build websites, and what I should expect to encounter during the 'running a site' process.

Back in the day, I would code all of my own websites in pure HTML using the best website building tool ever, Notepad. Was it a lot of work? Sure. Was it worth it? Well, yes. I was able to set up a place where I could post my own thoughts and ideas (even though nobody ever saw it). The format was pretty cool, as well. I'd have date stamped updates whenever I would post a new thought...it was great.

And it was a blog before blogging as we know it.

So fast forward to today. I don't hand code my HTML anymore. I'm just too lazy for that, and I really don't remember a lot of it, since I don't use it. Now I just run WordPress. Really, it's faster and easier (although since I can't make my own themes and I don't have the cash on hand to buy a custom theme it doesn't always look how I envision it).

Getting started in blogging, for me, was just a logical progression from what I was already doing.

Reader Questions

Alright, let's go to the phone lines...hello, The Project, what would you like to hear?

Hello?

Hmm...ok, let's go to line two. Hello, The Proj...meh, I wonder why these callers keep hanging up? Oh snap...this isn't radio...

So here's the thing. I've been doing this 'blogging' thing for around six months and I just realized that the readers (who may or may not exist, the jury is still out on that one...) have NO CLUE who I am or what I think about that causes stuff to pop up on this site. So here we go, doing what other bloggers are doing.

Go ahead. Ask me anything. Of course, questions will be answered if they are something I can share with the readers without having to move.

Any takers? You can send your questions to me via email (wwstewart@gmail.com) or just leave a comment below. I'll compile the list and answer them to the best of my memory.

Go! Now!

New URL, Same Headache

Update your bookmarks, I've registered a new domain name.

http://www.thesugarbuzzproject.net

Yep, I am still having problems getting the URL to work properly, even changing the name servers  to the host's did not fix it.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of it fast.

I'll give 100 Entrecard credits to the person that can help me get this thing working properly.

URL Annoyances Galore!

Well, I finally fixed the URL issue (showing the actual path to the site on the server), but now I face another annoying URL annoyance - making the titles of my article show up.

I'll admit, I haven't done a ton of web-work in several years, so I'm a bit rusty. The thing is, now my address shows up as this:

http://thesugarbuzzproject.info

...even after clicking on an article title. I want it to look like this:

http://thesugarbuzzproject.info/contest-1-year-membership-to-weather-underground

What am I doing wrong here? The permalink URLs work fine, but they don't display in the title bar, which is what I want.

Grrr, Arrg.

Can anyone please help me?

Oh, the contest is scheduled to end this coming Saturday. If you haven't already entered, now would be a really good time to do that.
