Finding the proper place for all my makeup

Guest post written by Ann Kennedy

I moved into our new house months ago, but I still haven’t quite found the right place for everything. In my defense, I’ve been doing a lot of remodeling so it still feels like we haven’t quite moved in. I keep finding things that need to be remodeled in our house and adding them to the list.

I also recently decided that I needed to find some sort of storage solution for all of my makeup. I looked online to see what I could find for an idea for that. When I was looking, I saw info on Sears Home Improvement and after I looked through it some I decided to use them to finish out a lot of our remodeling, including some of our cabinets.

I think I’m also going to set up some kind of organization system in our cabinets for my cosmetics so I won’t be cluttering up all of our nice new big counters. I had a big problem with that at our old house.

Should I learn about building websites again?

I haven’t really tried to build a website in a very long time. After discovering WordPress, I really haven’t had a lot of reason to roll out those old-school HTML skills…aside from tweaking pages and whatnot.

I’m thinking that it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all to take a course (or at least read a webmaster tutorial or two). Of course, I’d likely be in over my head.

The truth is, I never really got into PHP or CSS or anything beyond HTML. I don’t really know why that is the case, but I think it’s partially because I’m lazy. I think I covered this a bit in my last post.

I think it would be beneficial to learn this stuff again. I mean, between this blog, by still-to-be-built band website, and other projects, it would definitely be good to know this stuff.

Which areas would you focus on if you were about to go into web design?

Negative Trends and How to Avoid Them

I’ve spent a lot of time over the past two years kicking myself about a lot of things. Since the divorce, my head just has been kind of floating around in a vacant part of the universe, just waiting for something good to happen.

Waiting. Just waiting.

At times, this waiting reveals things to me…things that I have noticed over and over again. And while there are good things about noticing negative trends in your life, repeating them is, from what I’ve learned, a bad thing.

I’m really good at repeating negative trends. Like, I’m so pro…

So as I was sitting here, I started to have an epiphany about these trends, somewhere between the chocolate-dipped pretzels, microwaved popcorn and white zinfandel – I’m going nowhere.

Sure, I talk about all of the good things that I could do, and I come up with ideas that I really need to do, but I rarely get around to them. The only thing I’ve pushed toward accomplishing this year is making my first stock purchase. But there are a lot of other things that I should focus on.

I need to stay motivated.

I need to lose a significant amount of weight.

I need to get a better car.

I need to increase my income and build a passive income system.

All of these things that I really need (and want) to do…but I’m doing none of them. Well, more or less.

The truth is that I’m lazy. Oh, don’t get me wrong…I’m not afraid of work. I still have two jobs (which sucks), mind you. To be honest, I’m really not sure what it is that is holding me back. I think it’s just a baseless fear of everything.

Seriously. That’s pretty dumb.

I need to find a way to stop getting distracted. When I’m online, I spend more time on Facebook than I do working on this site. I’ve had this blog for quite a while now…you’d think it should be making more money than it does. And I know that it can, it’s just that I’ve become lazy.

Don’t be lazy. If you are already lazy, stop it. Find a way to cut distractions out of your life when they are affecting your work. Stop making excuses and get after it!

Inspirational Stuff – A Quote From Emerson

I just came across this image and thought I’d share. No real reason, it just seemed like something that I would say and/or do. Shouldn’t we all be this way?

First Stock Purchase!

Today I picked up 300,000 shares of EVCA. Yes, they are in debt. Yes, they probably will close within the next couple of years if they don’t get their act together.

No, I really don’t care about that.

Do you think this is a bad investment? Here’s what I’m looking at:

1.  The price is extremely low. It fluctuates (regularly) between 0.0002 and 0.0004 per share. There’s enough fluctuation there to actually look at…at least according to my math.  I got in at 0.0003 per share. I’m okay with this. I mean, come on, 300k shares for $90 plus commission? I think that’s okay.

2. It doesn’t take a lot of movement to make money. I’ve set my triggers to sell this stock at just 0.0004. Why? Because that’s enough to cover my sell commission plus give me about $14 profit.

Only $14 bucks? Yes. That’s it. I know, some of you are probably thinking that it’s not enough profit to really be worth the investment.

Let me ask you this: would you rather earn $14 or $0 for clicking a mouse a couple of times? Yeah. That’s what I thought.

I understand that penny stocks are volatile and “risky”, but the fact is you don’t have to be a risky investor. I’m not looking to ‘get rich’ with penny stocks (at least not yet), I’m simply looking to start making my money work for me by putting profits in my pocket. Any additional stream of income I can generate is a good thing. This is just another stream.

My long term goal is to leverage little things like this into bigger investments – either in real estate or dividend paying stocks.

I want to spend my life playing music, not working every day. It’s time to start getting things in place for that future. I don’t want to be someones wage-slave forever.

I’d like to get your feedback and/or investment tips. What do you think? Is this a good move?
