MySpace Music: Now with playlists!

Let me tell you, this week has been insane. All the rumors that you have heard about truckstops at night are true, just so you know.

If you haven’t heard any rumors, ask a truck driver. If you don’t know one, email me. It’s a zoo, that’s for sure.

I was checking out TechCrunch this morning and noticed that MySpace had changed the way they deal with music on their site. I had to log in and check it out, being both a MySpace user and a major music nerd.

It appears they have now allowed us to have a playlist rather than just one song on our profiles. There’s more to it as well, mostly on the marketing end. But since I am mentally exhausted from my 1800+ mile trip that I will be making again next week (as well as a short one day run that I have to leave for tonight), I won’t go into it. Besides, TechCrunch has that covered.

The only question I have is probably the most important one. What’s on your playlist?

I’ve got some Van Halen, Steve Vai, Green Day, and Coheed and Cambria. But you didn’t really care to know, did you?

Wow, I need some coffee.

Technical Difficulties 2

In this episode of Technical Difficulties, I ask the question “why hasn’t Ross Goldberg (mastersseminar.com) sent the prize he sponsored in the contest I won”?

I’m also getting a bit more adept with Movie Maker. Groovy.

I hope this gets Mr. Goldberg on the ball…

Review: MS21.2 PC Speaker Set From The Speaker Company

What can I say? I’m blown away by these speakers.

But I can’t just leave it at that, this is a review, not a Twitter post…heh.

A few days ago I received a package containing the MS21.2 PC speaker set from The Speaker Company. For years, I’ve used whatever cheap speakers I could find for my computer, sometimes even resorting to rigging up an arcane system which included a guitar amplifier. Sure it was loud, but a computer isn’t exactly a guitar, so it didn’t sound that great. I suppose you could say that from the very start, I was impressed with the MS21.2’s.

“Turn it down…the neighbors are gonna call the cops!”

Yes, that was my wife’s first (and immediate) impression when I was giving these speakers a test run. I started out trying a bit of Eric Johnson on them, followed by Roxette, eventually running the gamut of everything from jazz (which I am currently listening to) to death metal (Bolt Thrower).

It seemed that no matter what I played, it sounded great! I just can’t get over the excellent sound quality of these speakers!

I even tried to find something I didn’t like about them (for the sake of fairness). I noticed that when I turned up the volume, I was getting feedback. Then I realized that it was because I had not muted my microphone. Problem solved. After muting the mic, it was crystal clear, even when cranked.

So, tell me about these speakers…

Well, the MS21.2’s are exclusive to The Speaker Company. They push an average 80 watts, and consist of three speakers (two satellites and a subwoofer), and a controller. Setting them up took less than a minute (truthfully, they took longer to unpack than to set up), so I was able to dive in head-first into trying these out.

The MS21.2’s are decently priced (especially for their sound quality). You can get a set for $35.97 (and right now they are offering free shipping. If you would like to see them for yourself, you can go to The Speaker Company’s website.

The Final word.

I listen to all kinds of music. I have always preferred to listen at high volume, but only when there is superb clarity. I would have to say that these speakers definitely fit the bill. My compliments to The Speaker Company on an excellent product, and I would gladly refer anybody to them anytime.

Considering a New Business Computer

About two hours ago, I sold Severus, my trusted computer that helped me start this site. I really didn’t want to sell it, but the truth is I needed the money. Not to mention I have recently set up a better system, so it’s not as if I am completely offline. I’ve still got a few more days before the internet is turned off…heh.

Of course, I really need a good home server for my business stuff. I’ve been looking around the net, and I’ve managed to find some decent deals on a new AS/400 server over at Performance Data Resources. They also have parts for IBM servers, which is great (because knowing me, something will go wrong…heh). If I really wanted to save some money, I could go for one of their refurbished servers! How nice…I used to own a server, but didn’t really have the room available to use it in the house.

Their site looks pretty good, and it’s really easy to find your way around the site. Oh! They are also giving away a free shirt with certain orders…yeah, we all like free stuff!

Go check them out. You’ll find a good deal, I promise!

How to Tell When Things are Bad

Bad News Lindsey Lohan

Well, Ike didn’t get too bad here. Got some high winds, but fortunately the power only blinked once, so I was able to post updates to Twitter all night. Needless to say, between keeping the twits updated, the refugees that stayed with us, and the coffee, I didn’t sleep much this weekend.

Fortunately, the decision to live-tweet a hurricane helped improve my follower count!

That’s all the good news I have.

I’ve been out of work for three weeks now. I DO have a job, but I took my physical Friday and I have to wait for them to mail the results to the company. Not only that, my unemployment was denied. We are staring right down the barrel of losing our phones, internet, cars and maybe electricity.

This is not a place I ever want to be in again.

We can’t sell the car because it’s not paid for. And it’s not in our name. Can’t cut the cable off, because the internet is tied in with it and my wife needs it for school. Can’t cut the phones for obvious reasons (they are cell phones - we don’t have a landline…and they are locked in a contract).

I really hate being down. I especially hate the incessant flow of bad news.

Suggestions?
