Welcome back! Have you joined my mailing list yet?

One of the main tools I have been using this year to try to make a few extra bucks has been sponsored posts, mostly using services like PayPerPost. The problem with services like this is that it requires you to use certain keywords. If you don’t, you will not get paid.

I get the feeling that whoever places these advertisements have no freaking clue how to write a coherent paragraph.

For example, this came from my last post:

Fortunately, the boss is a fair, kind man who decided to call it a lay-off rather than a ‘get out’, so even though I was only with the company for two months, he is willing to give me a good reference, as well as some photos of rhinoplasty. Strange man, I’m not sure if he was trying to tell me that I needed a nose job, or if I just needed to get my nose worked on. Maybe I snored when I was at work. I wonder what I’d look like…

There is no way in heck that I can logically use the key phrase ‘photos of rhinoplasty’ on this site without doing some idiotic, illogical rambling…just like that.

Another problem is that I tried to use keywords that consisted of a person’s name. It was rejected 3 times because I have to have a few sentences that are directly related to the keyword. I don’t know the guy, and would not be likely to write about him on this site. I may have to try to work it in soon, if I want to get paid, which is a good thing. Of course, it’s just the hassle that makes me want to just pour Mountain Dew on my monitor. Good thing I am patient. It’s also good that I don’t have any Mountain Dew.

I’m willing to bet that there are quite a few of you out there that have had this dilemma in the past. How can I write good posts while inserting totally unrealistic keywords?

My only solution is to just get insane with your topics. Hey, I could use the extra few bucks.

I’d like to hear from anyone who has come up with a creative solution to this problem. Sound off!

Something I have learned over the past few years is this: looking for a job is harder than actually doing the job in most cases.

I am, as of Monday, without a ‘boss’.

Now, most of the blog wielding freelancers that I know of would be thrilled with this prospect, especially after spending years running on the proverbial corporate-hamster-wheel-of-doom. Not me. Why? Because, this wasn’t one of those ’screw you, I’m workin’ for me’ deals. Basically, it’s not good to be the one who has an example made of them. You know, driving an 18-wheeler through tight turns isn’t quite as easy as you might think.

Granted, there really wasn’t that much damage done to either the cattle guard or the trailer. Still, the company has had 5 incidents in the past month, and for a company with only about 10 trucks, that’s a pretty high percentage of goof-ups. The boss was forced to change the company policy – which happened while I was off-duty, so naturally I didn’t know about the change.

So that means that now we have to move. Meh. I hate moving, don’t you?

Anyway, the last two jobs I’ve held have been no longer than three months. The first one just did not pay enough to justify staying there (and not enough to cover the bills), and this one, well, accidents happen. I don’t know a single truck driver that hasn’t damaged something. Big trucks + tight spaces = crunchy.

That’s my long explanation why I haven’t been working on this site much in the past few days. I’m hoping that something changes for the better soon. I’ve got plans for a couple of nice articles, but for now, I must focus on what is important.

Namely, that cold glass of tea sitting about two feet from me…

Every blogger knows (or should know) that backlinks are a necessity in order to draw traffic to your site, and thereby make money. Most of us already know that getting your URL into directories is a good thing generally. The problem is that there are so many freakin’ directories on the net and there’s just not enough time in the day to get them all done manually.

Fortunately, there are several tools and sites out there that can help automate this process. For example, SubmitterBot is a semi-automatic submitter site that can help you quickly submit your URL to many different directories in a short amount of time. It sure beats trolling the Google swamps looking for directories, then figuring out how to get your URL listed. You just sign up (it’s free), set up your URL, and start submitting it.

SubmitterBot makes it easy to submit your site to many directories. It’s easy to use and navigate, which is great for beginner bloggers or people who aren’t familiar with things that have many steps.

Go check it out!

I have a family/friends blog at a small social/blog network (that shall remain nameless at this time…no, it’s not a major network, it’s small). The cool thing about this network is that there are different groups you can join to discuss different topics, such as religion, politics, and other interesting things…like finding good deals on products online.

And this is where the milking comes in.

I have found in the past couple of days that this is an awesome place to drop ads from my affiliates, especially Market Leverage and Amazon. I tend to stick with the email/zip submits (because they pay out with very little effort on the part of the user), and the money just starts to flow.

Granted, it’s not a bunch of money. However, it does generate something that, to me, is more valuable than money: the knowledge of how to make more money.

If you aren’t a member of Market Leverage, now would be a good time to join and start making some money.

If you haven’t tried this technique, I’d highly recommend you give it a shot. You really have nothing to lose.

I believe today marks the first anniversary of The Sugarbuzz Project…or at least the anniversary of the first post.

This site has come a long way since I started it, even almost falling into a niche…but not quite.

Also, about three weeks ago, I made it to my goal.

The only New Year’s resolution I made this year was to make $500 on the internet. I HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL!

It’s an awesome feeling. For once in my life, I have accomplished something that I set out to do. And now, even in my personal life, people are starting to take notice (my wife, actually). So I have gone from her not caring, to her thinking it was a bad idea, to her saying things like ‘you aren’t going to stop, are you?’ in a positive manner…heh.

Actually, I’m getting very close to the $600 mark. Want to know how close?

Are you sure?

Too bad! You are just going to have to wait until I release the third quarter earnings report!

And now, I shall entertain you with song.

Happy birthday to me…happy birthday to me…
