Review :: MySpaceHive.com
I admit it, I use MySpace.
Don’t laugh. We all know you use it to. Perhaps you just like to say that Tom is your friend, or like me, you actually use it to keep in touch with friends and family. For the longest time, my profile was the default blue and white no-nonsense theme. There are many sites on the net where you can find cool layouts, glitter graphics and the like for “pimping out” your profile. This review is focused on one such site, Myspace Comments.
To be honest I’ve never been a big fan of sites with many advertisements, and this was no exception. But everyone has to pay a hosting bill, so I’ve decided to forgive and forget.
The site features some nice layouts (in particular, the Abstract section piques my interest) with several categories to choose from, such as cartoons, quotes, models, cars, music, and several others.
The site also features graphics (of the glittery and non-glittery varieties), backgrounds, online icons, music player codes, comment boxes, picture captions, contact tables, and a few other surprises.
MySpaceHive’s content appears to be of decent quality, with some very nice layouts (and other items).
As for the site itself, I would rate their usability (on a scale of 1-10) as an 8, due to the advertisements slowing down my already lagged browser.
I give http://www.myspacehive.com an overall score of a 9. Way to go!

Dreams of a better whatever.
I’m sitting in Corpus Christi in the “business center” of a motel using their free internet connection. There’s a 30 minute limit (which I have completely and utterly ignored), and I am doing nothing but reading blogs and thinking about blogging.
Obsessed? Perhaps.
My dream job (other than owning my own company hot-shot driving, playing in a rock band, or running network security audits) is to be a full-time blogger. I see so many people on the net spilling their guts at random and making a killing doing so, while people like myself work 50-60 hours per week, breaking our backs to pay the bills, and hoping for an hour at the end of the day (after the house is cleaned and the kids are tucked in) to have a much-deserved cup of coffee and to post meager lines of text describing those things that are tucked away in our minds, such as how much our jobs suck or what we wish we were doing.
I’m not a professional anything, really. I drive trucks. I bring groceries to your convenience stores, unload them from the trucks, and wheel them into the stores. I don’t feel that there is much (if anything) blog-worthy about that.
Or is there?
As I type this, I think “You know, I wonder how many trucking blogs there are out there…”
A quick Google Blog search yeilds “Results 1 - 10 of about 106,860 for truck driving.”
Wow…there are a few. Perhaps I should start one as well. I keep having these big hopes and dreams about running a blog network (like b5 media, etc.) but just don’t have the time to dedicate to such things.
There has to be some way to break into this market. Heck, I just want to earn enough with AdSense to pay for some real hosting for my themes blog.
Sometimes these things feel so out of reach. Why do I get so down about it?
It’s only the medium of the new generation.
Ah well, all things in time. I should keep my head up, and so should any just-for-fun bloggers with big dreams. They can come true.
But what do I know, I’m just a trucker :)

New Toys!
I received a nice gift from my mother a few days ago. I’ve been needing to feed my versatility monster, and a shiny new Leatherman knife did the trick.
I love pocketknives. This knife has allowed me to 1) carry more tools in a smaller space and 2) leave my shiny Smith and Wesson Baby SWAT knife at home (where it is generally safer…less prone to being lost in some far-away city).
Semi-serrated blade, Phillips and flat screwdrivers, belt loop clip…I know it’s not a swiss army knife (with 713 different attachments, USB flash, built-in food warmer, etc.), but it does serve my basic needs quite well.
