Web Woes
It seems my themes site is also being redirected, much like the original version of TSP. Free hosting seems to be more trouble than it is worth.
The problem is that I don’t have the spare cash to get some decent hosting.
I don’t want to have to put up a donations link somewhere, so I suppose I should just figure out how to get enough cash to 1) get a real domain name and 2) get some real hosting.
I’ve used nothing but free hosting (for myself) in the past, and I’d like to move past that (because, darn it, I want to make money blogging).
If anyone has any suggestions of a way to get some serious hosting for free (not cheap, that requires money) please let me know.
Argh!

Review: Colors by Between the Buried and Me
Album: Colors by Between the Buried and Me
I was handed this cd this morning by my program director. I couldn’t resist dropping it in and giving it a spin. Not on the air…I work at a country station.
The first track, Foam Born (a) The Backtrack, was interesting…at first I thought it was some emo-esque album (even though I was told it was metal). I have to say, I did dig the piano key change…to me, that’s a good hook. I figured I’d give it a chance, and skipped to the second track.
And that’s where the metal comes in.
By far, my favorite track on the album would be the sixth one, Prequel to the Sequel. Melodic, good guitar hooks, very groovy lead guitar work. Wow…melodic metal is good.
With it’s prog-melodic-death metal vibe, I’d have to give this album 8 out of 10. Why only 8? Well…I should probably listen to the thing more, but I have to deduct two points for the knit hat the singer is wearing in the pictures. I love knit hats myself, but it’s not metal. The pics make them look like, I dunno, Modest Mouse or something.
More bands should keep progressive, melodic metal from being a thing of the past. Between the Buried and Me are doing a good job waging sonic war on the mundane. Rock on.

Using Thunderbird with GMail
I found this article on Lifehacker about how to configure Thunderbird to use with your GMail account. So naturally, I had to try it out.
Very nice. Very simple. Now to find some nice extensions to make Thunderbird more svelt. Yeah. I’m all happy about this, can you tell?
What? Are you not using GMail? Why not? What about Thunderbird? Outlook Express? You mean…Lookout Express? Time to upgrade to that nice FREEWARE. Seriously.

Sleepy…
I picked up a couple computers today that I need to test and either rebuild and sell, or scrap altogether. It’s been a long day, and I have to be at work at 5:30 a.m.
I had my first encounter with a Striped Bark scorpion today. I was moving some wood pallets at work, and after I put the last one on the stack, I noticed something moving near where my had was. Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was a scorpion. Neat. Kind of weird that I almost got a handful of him. He’s now in a ziploc bag on my back porch. Yes, he’s dead. (Note to PETA, get over it.)
I haven’t got any traffic yet to my wordpress template site. Of course, I’m waiting for it to get spidered by several different search engines. I really hope it takes off. I know it’s not original, but seriously, how many original websites are out there? A bunch? Um…yeah.
Coheed and Cambria are playing in Houston the day before my birthday. I really want to go to that show. Doubt I’ll get to. Ah well.
That’s all I have to say for now. Check out my other site…TSP themes in the blogroll.
Plskthx!

WordPress Theme Blog!
I’ve been setting up a sister-site to this one, a blog featuring mostly WordPress themes and plugins. I’d like to also add some MySpace layouts on the site. So far I haven’t created any myself (aside from the uber-simple css on my MS page), but there are many good ones out there that deserve all the promotion that they can get.
Be sure to check it out, submit your designs or links, and bookmark the site!
